Parallel Optic is a type of data transmission method that simultaneously transmits and receives data over multiple optical fibers. The signals are splitted and transmitted over multiple optical fibers, and joined back together at the receiver. They differ from serial optics transmission where data is transmitted in a sequence over a single fiber.

In parallel optic transmission, it relies on spatial division multiplexing, in which a signal is spatially divided among multiple fibers and simultaneously transmitted across those fibers. Combined with Olabs state-of-art MPO assembly technology and high quality OM3/OM4 fiber cables, we deliver the truly reliable high speed 40G/100G applications.
The laser optimized multimode 40G/100G structured cabling employs parallel optics transmission. MPO is one of the complementary technologies which enables the development and deployment of parallel optics device. Designated within IEEE-802.3ba standard for next generation 40G/100G Ethernet transmission speeds, it specifies to form a 40G Ethernet by using four 10G channels to transit and four 10G channels to receive over a 12 fiber MPO connector. Likewise, a 100G Ethernet is to use ten 10G channels to transmit and ten 10G channel to receive over a 24 fiber MPO connector.
  • Most cost effective solution for getting 40G/100G transmissions for short reach systems
  • High Density solution within tiniest physical space
  • To support high bandwidth applications
